What size storage units do you have? How much are they?
5x5, 5x10, 10x10, 10x15, 10x20, and 10x30. All are ground-floor units with easy drive-up access. Please see Rent A Unit for current availability and our very competitive monthly rates.
Do you have any units available today?
Click on Rent A Unit to see all our storage sizes and prices. Available units are listed in bold with a red Move In Today button; select the size you need and follow the prompts to complete your online rental.
Sizes not currently available have a gray Wait List button. We maintain an active waiting list and will happily notify you when the size you're looking for opens up; e-mail or call us with your name, cell phone, email address, storage size/s, and the date by which you need storage.
Yikes! I'm at the gate and forgot my access code!
Log into My Account on www.chimneycornersselfstorage.com to retrieve your access code.
What kind of lock should I bring?
We recommend a round disc lock; its hidden shank provides greater security than a padlock. Our 30-foot units have doors opening on two aisles and require two locks.
How do I make sure the storage unit door is locked properly?
Before installing your lock, lock the door by pushing the lever on the locking mechanism of the door all the way to the right. (There’s an icon on the door that shows the “lock” and “unlock” positions.) Then install your lock and test the door; if pulling the handle up doesn’t open the door, you’re all set.
Are the units clean and dry?
All our storage buildings were new in summer 2014 or fall 2015. They have smooth concrete floors, and all are inspected for cleanliness after each move-out. Weather-stripping on the door and vapor barriers in the ceiling and under the floor help keep the units dry. As with any uninsulated space, significant fluctuations in outside temperature may cause condensation inside. We recommend that you put your stored items on pallets and that you be selective about what you store close to the door opening.
There is no smoking on the premises. To keep stored items safe and our grounds clean, please take your cigarette butts out with you.
What are the terms of your lease agreement?
See our Terms & Conditions tab for a synopsis and a link to the full rental agreement (including our privacy policy).
I want to rent a unit today. May I come sign a lease and get the key?
Our rental process is fully automated; rent a unit online with your computer or mobile device. On our website, click on Rent A Unit, then Move In Today, and follow the prompts to select the size storage unit you need, create an account, agree to our lease terms, and make your first payment. We use autopay, so future monthly payments will be charged on the 1st of each month to the credit card you securely store in your account. We do not charge any administrative or booking fees.
When you submit your rental information, you’ll get a confirmation e-mail with your storage unit number, personal gate access code, payment confirmation, and a copy of the lease agreement. Don’t move into any unit that you don’t have written confirmation for; an unlocked unit may be rented and just not yet occupied.
We don’t have an office onsite for the storage facility; please make an appointment if you’d like to see our units before you rent. And we don’t have gate keys; your own electronic gate code allows you access to the facility 24/7/365.
Is my payment information secure?
We value and respect the privacy of our tenants’ personal information. We proudly meet Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards and use PCI-compliant software and merchant services vendors; click on the Trustwave icon on our home page for proof of our PCI certification.
Do you have security cameras?
Yes, and we have a log of all Tenants using the keypads at our gated facility. Milton Police officers have a code that allows them 24/7 access so they can patrol the facility. These measures deter theft and provides clue that may help police identify any unlawful activity.
Still, we need your help with security. Please:
• use a round disc lock (not a padlock) on your storage unit; they’re available at any hardware store.
• let the gate close behind you every time you enter/exit the facility; don’t drive in/out before the gate closes behind you, even (… or especially …) if there’s another vehicle behind you.
May I rent by the month?
Yes; most people do. We use autopay for monthly rentals; your credit card is charged on the first of the month for that month’s rental fee until you give us 10-day move-out notice. We offer 6- and 12-month pre-pay discounts for renters who know they need long-term storage. All rent payments are non-refundable, and no portion of any unused rent is returned.
I just need storage for a week or two.
There’s a 4-week rental minimum. If you move in mid-month, you’ll pay a pro-rated amount for that month and a full month’s rent for the next. Please let us know ASAP when you’ve moved out so we can process your security deposit promptly.
I don’t need the storage unit until next week/month. How can I reserve one for later?
All rentals take effect as soon as you complete the online rental process. We don’t hold units for a future move-in or guarantee that the size you want will be available later, but we’ll happily let you know now how many units that size we have now and give you a heads up as we get low.
May I store a car at Chimney Corners Self Storage?
Yes; you’re welcome to store vehicles that are in running condition, insured, and titled to you. Place an impermeable tarp under the vehicle – even if it’s never leaked – to protect the floor.
Will a 5x10 (or 10x15, etc.) be big enough for my (fill in the blank)?
The Storage Calculator on our home page will help you determine the storage space you need. About one-third of our customers underestimate the size they need … so please use the calculator unless a professional mover has told you what size to rent.
I need a bigger (or smaller) unit.
Tenants often rent one size storage unit and grow – or downsize – into needing another. Simply rent the new unit online, move all your stored belongings, and let us know when you’re completely out of the first unit. We’ll inspect it and process your security deposit refund.
Don’t move into any unit you don’t have written confirmation for! An unlocked unit isn’t necessarily available; another Tenant may have rented it and not yet moved in. If you’re unloading and need additional space right away, call us … but don’t move into any space you haven’t rented.
How tall is the space inside?
Approx. 96” (8’) high; the roll-up door mechanism takes up some ceiling space at the front.
What size are the doorways?
Doors to our 5-foot-wide units are approx. 44”W x 80”H. Doors to the 10-foot-wide units are approx. 107”W x 80”H.
Can I get a moving van up to my unit?
The curved driveway will accommodate a 20-foot-long truck, and aisles are 20 feet wide. An 18-wheeler can drive into the facility and park while movers carry items to your storage unit.
Do I need to insure my stored items?
Yes; we do not have insurance for your stored property against any loss, including theft or damage. Check your homeowners or renter’s insurance, which may already cover your property in storage … or contact your agent to add that coverage.
There’s a vehicle behind me at the entrance. Should I let them drive in behind me?
No! Pull inside the gate and stop until it closes so the tenant behind you uses his/her own code. You can help keep our facility and your stored items secure by not allowing drivers unknown to you to enter the gate. You’re not being rude; you’re being secure.
I gave a friend my gate access code to help me move and now I wish I hadn’t.
Just call and we’ll give you a new code. We appreciate your help in keeping the facility secure.
We’re planning to move out. How do we let you know?
As soon as you know – and at least 10 days before you move out – call or e-mail us with your expected move-out date. Then let us know again when your unit is empty and broom-clean so we can inspect your unit and process your security deposit promptly.
Where can I leave items I don’t need any more?
There is no trash disposal on the premises; please pack it in and pack it out. The cost of disposing any items you leave behind will be deducted from your security deposit.
How do I get my security deposit back?
Let us know when you’ve left your storage unit empty, undamaged, and broom-clean. We’ll inspect it and process your security deposit refund to the credit card on file in your account. The refund is withdrawn from our account within 24 hours and, depending on your bank, credited to your account 2-7 days later.
